Career Clusters

My college orientation is March 31st. I have to choose all of my classes for my first semester. The only problem is I do not know what I want to major in. My major as of now is nursing with the intent of eventually becoming a midwife..but I am not sure?? I am stuck between a family and consumer sciences degree in early intervention(birth to 5) education and nursing/midwifery. I think a FACS degree would help me in the future especially when I (God willing) have a family. I would love to home school and it also incorporates classes about interior design and nutrition. Nursing/Midwifery is also very exciting to me. I know I would love helping mothers during that very special times in there lives. I would love to do some mission work using a degree like this. My dad really wants me to become a registered nurse but I am not so sure. I think the FACS degree would benefit me in being a wife and mother...but so would nursing. All of these thoughts got me thinking about which careers are biblical and which aren't. I came across an article that listed careers unsuitable for Christians including:

bartender

military service

police work or guard duty

retail stores

wholesale stores

any merchandising of goods with prices marked up and re-sold

real estate sales

banking

finance companies

mortgage companies or brokers

credit card companies

stock brokers

financial investment advisors

insurance companies

gambling casinos, lotteries, etc.

lawyers

accountants

martial arts, including judo, karate, etc.

"Christian" bookstores

secular bookstores

grocery stores

any retail store or wholesale store in which products sold are manufactured by some other entity

day care center for children

beauty salons

para-church organizations

The list continues and has many Scriptures. I am not sure what to make of it but it really made me think. Many of us do not consider what the Bible says when choosing a career. I pray that both options I am considering are pleasing to HIM and that HE will guide me towards the best decision.

Swimwear

Warmer months are approaching..so a swimsuit is a great staple to have. Although I cannot swim, I happen to love water parks and being in the water. One big problem is the lack of modesty in mot swimwear. However, I personally do not like the look and style of swimsuits shaped like burlap sacks. Here are a few options with varying degrees of modesty that I think most people would feel comfortable in and will fit in with others comfortably:

Swim
HydroChic.com-Also has skorts and pants $$

Swim
VeiledByDesign.com-Also has long sleeves and head coverings $

Swim

Swim
Modestkini.com-Also has pants, full sleeves and headcovering $$

Swim
Primomoda.com-All styles similar to this one (hijab is not connected) $$$

Intro

I am Schy. Sch like school not shh! I am an 18 year old Creole young lady and a soon-to-be high school graduate. I am going to college 2 hours away from home in the fall..and I am still not sure if that is a great decision. I am a fairly conservative Christian. I am still a "baby" in Christ's eyes as I have only been baptized for a little over a year.My sister is 11 and my brother is 6. My mom is the same religion as I whereas my Dad is Catholic. I am not new to blogging but I am new to blogging about my faith. I know I am all over the place but I am writing as I think :) My favorite music artists are: Brandon Heath, Matthew West, Jars of Clay +more. My favorite TV shows are: 19 and Counting, House, & Real Housewives. I have recently learned the value of modesty in dress, speech & other aspects of life. I am steadily transforming my wardrobe to make it more modest even though my family thinks I am crazy for doing so. I love, love, loveee to bake. I have been following many Christian blogs for a while now but finally decided to make my own about my own spiritual walk. Enough for now.
